Plastik pembungkus lontong/ketupat dibuat dari polymer jenis polietilen atau polipropilen. Apabila terkena suhu panas diatas 60°C, maka zat aditif akan terlepas dari plastik. Proses perebusan lontong/ketupat membutuhkan waktu lama, maka polymer akan keluar dan terserap dan tertinggal sebagai residu di dalam nasi ketupat. Polymer bersifat karsinogenik, sangat berbahaya bagi kesehatan bila terakumulasi dalam tubuh.terakumulasi dalam tubuh. Zat berbahaya ini dapat menimbulkan kanker atau ganggau reproduksi.
Jadi, lebih baik mengonsumsi ketupat/lontong berbungkus daun. Repot sedikit tidak mengapa, karena sepadan dengan manfaatnya. (AK_Red_Demedia)
