Banyak jajanan yang memakai lontong atau ketupat sebagai pengganti nasi. Sebut saja ketoprak, gado-gado, taoge goreng, satai, dan lain-lainnya. Lontong yang dibungkus daun pisang atau ketupat berbungkus daun janur memiliki aroma khas yang bisa menambah kenikmatan bersantap. Namun, kini dengan alasan kepraktisan banyak yang membuat ketupat/lontong berbungkus plastik. Tahukah, bahwa ini berbahaya bagi kesehatan?

Plastik pembungkus lontong/ketupat dibuat dari polymer jenis polietilen atau polipropilen. Apabila terkena suhu panas diatas 60°C, maka zat aditif akan terlepas dari plastik. Proses perebusan lontong/ketupat membutuhkan waktu lama, maka polymer akan keluar dan terserap dan tertinggal sebagai residu di dalam nasi ketupat. Polymer bersifat karsinogenik, sangat berbahaya bagi kesehatan bila terakumulasi dalam tubuh.terakumulasi dalam tubuh. Zat berbahaya ini dapat menimbulkan kanker atau ganggau reproduksi.
